VIDEO: Korean Highlights at Art Paris Art Fair 2016

At this year’s edition of Art Paris Art Fair, Korean galleries and artists took the spotlight as guests of honor. Guest curator Sang-A Chun brought nearly 80 artists represented by 8 galleries from Korea (Seoul, Daegu and Paju) and about 26 other western galleries.

Works on show span from the 1960s to present and included masters such as Kunyong Lee at Soso Gallery, whose work embodies the idea “I am doing, never thinking.”

Young contemporary artists like Kim Joon at Park Ryu Sook Gallery and Sun-Tai Yoo and Sho Jang at Paik Hae Young translate eastern philosophy into western mediums in slick prints and glitzy video pieces.

Soo Choi from Park Ryu Sook said the guest of honor program was “a good opportunity” to introduce western collectors and art lovers to important artists on the Korean art scene.

Watch the video to hear from artist Sho Jang and some of the Korean gallerists about their presentations at this year’s Art Paris Art Fair.
